We are seeking a driven, reliable, and experienced leader to direct and coordinate production activities utilizing knowledge of production procedures, capacity and product. The Production Manager will assist in the development of the organization through continuous improvement of processes and the implementation of quality and safety initiatives.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with facilities, maintenance, and EHS departments to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
Investigate and drive all OSHA reportable and near miss incidents.
Maintain quality standards combined with productivity goals.
Guide and direct members of the quality department to address customer complaints, and all incoming and outgoing quality issues.
Develop a team approach working with operators, supervisors, and engineers to identify and address internal quality issues.
Establish production priorities and plan and direct production activities to meet them.
Ensure On-Time-Delivery to both internal and external customers.
Direct and coach managers of functional departments to meet departmental goals.
Work with engineers and production control to meet schedule demands and assure profitability.
Work with the purchasing and planning team to drive inventory to the proper level based on demand.
Work cross-functionally to set up the flow of product through the facility.
Establish and work with cross-functional teams to achieve efficiency goals.
Monitor the achieved productivity and set action plans for better achievement when needed.
Mentor and coach management on conflict resolution.
Actively participate in Operations team meetings to improve processes.
Establish and implement training on Lean practices.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management or Engineering.
More than eight years of work experience with progressive responsibility in a manufacturing environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Standard computer literacy with Excel, Word, and ERP systems.
Knowledge of JIT, lean manufacturing principles and specific product knowledge.
Ability to apply coaching, team building, and leadership skills.
Ability to meet production deadlines and to react to changes to meet customer demands.
Ability to work in the occasional stressful atmosphere due to last minute schedule changes while maintaining a professional leadership role.
Plant environment with occasional discomfort due to dust, noise, and fumes.
Extended work hours frequently required.
Work requires concentration on figures, paperwork, and data with frequent distracting influences such as people, telephone calls, noise etc. Frequent pressure and stress related to meeting shipments and scheduling changes.
