American Seating award boosts MVTA Ride and Read program
MVTA won the American Seating Ticket to Ride $10,000 award at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Exposition in October 2008.
American Seating developed its sponsorship of a $10,000 Free-Ride promotion to celebrate public transportation and to strengthen and support the industry.
At the APTA Expo registered attendees from a not-for-profit public transportation service provider were encouraged to enter the contest and provide an idea of how to spend the $10,000 to increase ridership in their community. MVTA was randomly chosen from the qualified entries.
MVTA is applying the American Seating award to its Read and Ride program that supports literacy and promotes public transportation — Your Library Card is your Ticket to Ride. Passengers who show their public library card receive a reduced bus fare to the Minnesota State Fair, September 2.
“MVTA has been a long-time customer of American Seating,” says Dave McLaughlin, vice president of transportation sales for American Seating. “We are excited to collaborate with them and help increase ridership in Burnsville.”
