GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – The White House has announced that Vice President Joe Biden is coming back to Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
The White House says Vice President Biden will visit American Seating Company’s factory in Grand Rapids at 10:45 a.m.

American Seating is celebrating 125 years of business with a special exhibit at the Grand Rapids Public Museum.
American Seating is mentioned in Mike Dunlap’s column “From Where I Sit” where he focuses on Michigan industries and Michigan pride. In this week’s column he reminds his readers of all the other industries in Michigan including American Seating.

GRAND RAPIDS — It’s been what you might call a home run year for American Seating Company when it comes to its stadium business.
The hits have been one after another: 20,000 seats for the Boston Red Sox, 28,000 for the Baltimore Orioles, 35,000 for the Florida Marlins and 42,000 to the Washington, D.C., Nationals.
The Grand Rapids company’s baseball seating business is up at least 25 percent over last year, said Bruce Weener, vice president of sales. His company shirt is embroidered with the motto: “We know baseball.”

In the fixed-seating sector of the furniture industry, American Seating is “ahead of the curve,” according to Deb McDermott, VP of marketing and business development.
After a year of development, American Seating became the first North American fixed-seating manufacturer to produce chairs with curved plywood backs that are not only Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified, but also contain no added urea formaldehyde (NAUF).

Until now, seating products featuring a curved plywood back could not achieve these combined options.
